It's only when you're being really aggressive with nutrient removal do you need.
Sep 11, Here's a recipe: Dissolve 10 grams in 1 liter of fresh water. That 10 grams contains grams of nitrate, so that solution is 6, ppm nitrate. Jan 04, So first step is to prepare your solution (KNO3 weight and RODI volume are the inputs in yellow) and then once you have that, second step is how much of that you will be dosing in the tank (water volume is the tank total water volume estimate and KNO3 solution dose is how many cc you will dose of the solution you made in the first step, again inputs in yellow).Estimated Reading Time: 8 mins.
Oct 29, 3. Begin dosing Nitrogen directly into your system. Spectracide Stump Remover = KNo3 (Potassium Nitrate).
I usea combo of biopellets and prodibio digest and my tank is now at zero nitrates Set up 2 months and I can see the colour returning to some of my browned out sps.

May 31, Keep testing and dosing daily until you achieve desired nitrate level. Increase dose daily if you don’t do nitrate testing daily to begin with. Or at least that’s what I do since I don’t care to do the math. This keeps my nitrates at ppm pretty steady. Smaller volume tank be very very careful with overdosing, I’m talking in drops.
